Knee prosthesis

Knee prosthesis surgery consists of replacing the knee joint with an artificial one which will take over the function of the damaged knee.

The main objective of the prosthesis is, above all, to alleviate the patient's pain and to improve their quality of life. After the operation, the patient will be able to carry out most everyday activities, although with some limitations for certain jobs with a heavy load and sporting activities. The operation last between one and two hours.

Days in hospital: between 3 and 6 days depending on pain control, associated pathologies of the patient and the evolution of the surgical wound.

Recovery after a knee replacement operation can take 4 to 6 months, depending on the characteristics of each patient.
