Inscription in the Civil Registry from Clínica Corachan
At Clínica Corachan, we offer our patients a free online service for notifying the Civil Registry of their babies' births.
Parents are required to report births within 72 hours to ensure they can register the birth directly from the hospital. After this deadline, they must visit the Civil Registry to complete the registration within 30 calendar days. If you do not want to register the birth in Barcelona, you must make an appointment with the corresponding Justice of the Peace.
To complete this formality at Clínica Corachan, you must request an appointment in the Patient Services office (main hall). No requests will be processed without the proper appointment. Registrations are available based on schedule from Monday to Friday, between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m.
We also offer an external service to provide free information and guidance to parents on the formalities they need to carry out when their baby arrives. Parents can also make use of the processing service if they wish, allowing them to relax and forget about the formalities. Contact them here www.tramitesnacimientobarcelona.com
Documentation required
- The birth certificate (Yellow page), duly completed and signed by both parents (signature of the declarant). All the information must be completed, and the document must be signed by both parties before the appointment day.
- DNI (ID document) of the parents if they are Spanish.
- A NIE (Foreigner ID document) with a photo or the original passports of parents if they are not Spanish.
- Family book or document proving the marriage duly legalised.
- Family book or official birth certificate if they have other children.
The clinic is unable to report the birth to the registry in the following situations:
- Parents of different nationalities, neither of whom are Spanish.
- If the MOTHER is separated, divorced or widowed.
- In the case of a surname with declension and one Spanish parent.
- If one of the two parents is a minor.
If the family chooses to register directly at the Civil Registry, they can visit the Civil Registry in Barcelona (they can request an appointment at at https://sede.administracionespublicas.gob.es/icpplustiej/selectSede) or to the Magistrate's Court of their town of residence, provided both parents are registered in the same municipality). They will have a period of 30 calendar days from the date of birth to submit the previously specified documentation, in addition to providing the stamped white page indicating "No registration from the hospital," which is given to them along with the discharge paperwork.
Clínica Corachan electronically submits the official "Form" for the birth declaration to the Civil Registry. The Civil Registry will send the parents an official birth certificate via email, which they can use to carry out various formalities.
In case of circumstances preventing Clínica Corachan from processing the registration, the parents will be duly informed that they need to visit the CIVIL REGISTRY to formally register the birth. Corachan provides a service that electronically transmits data about the birth to the Civil Registry within 72 hours. Any other circumstances must be resolved directly with the Civil Registry, as once the birth declaration is submitted from the hospital, no corrections or modifications can be processed.
